A home with public rooms
Every senior living community is two things at once: the residents’ household and the staff’s place of work. Lounges, dining rooms and hallways see steady use from breakfast until the evening movie or card game wraps up, and visiting families judge the whole place by what they find in the lobby and at the dinner table.
Senior housing in San Ramon ranges from larger campuses offering independent and assisted living, some with memory care wings, to small residential care homes that look like any other house on the block. Each runs on a daily rhythm of meals, activities and visiting hours, and the cleaning plan follows that rhythm rather than an office timetable.
Reception, lobby and visiting rooms
First impressions start at the door. The crew polishes fingerprints off the entry glass, wipes down the front desk, the visitor sign-in table and the guest chairs, dusts picture frames and display shelves, and vacuums or mops the floor. Family visiting rooms and seating nooks get table tops and chair arms wiped and cushions straightened, so a weekend visit begins somewhere comfortable and tidy.
The public restrooms residents and visitors share get a full clean and disinfecting, with grab bars, faucet handles and flush levers wiped along with the fixtures, and paper towels, toilet tissue and soap refilled before they run low.
Dining rooms between seatings
Dining rooms are cleaned in the gaps the kitchen schedule leaves. Crews wipe table tops, chair frames and seat backs, clean the spots where walkers and wheelchairs wait, sweep and mop beneath the tables, and wipe the serving counters and beverage stations, sanitizing the food-contact surfaces. A fuller pass after the evening meal leaves the room laid out for breakfast, with the floor clean and dry before the first resident comes down. If the community books its private dining room for a resident’s celebration, that room joins the list for the day it was reserved.
Corridors, handrails and elevators
Long corridors link every wing, and residents steady themselves on the handrails along them all day. Crews wipe each handrail end to end, clean light switches, door levers and elevator buttons, and dust the seating alcoves and artwork along the way. Mopping in a hallway covers half its width per pass, the damp half marked with a yellow sign while the other half stays dry, so nobody has to wait or take a detour on the way to lunch.
Rooms for programs, hobbies and worship
Craft rooms get paint and glue cleaned off the tables, sinks scrubbed and floors mopped. Theaters, libraries and chapels are dusted and vacuumed, card and puzzle tables are wiped, and the beauty salon’s chairs, counters and floor are cleaned once its last appointment ends. In the fitness room, crews wipe equipment handles, seats and the rails of the walking machines. A room in use waits for the next gap in the program calendar rather than interrupting a class. When an activity leaves a mess behind, such as a baking club or a painting session, tell us the day and the room gets an extra pass that evening.
Staff rooms, offices and the tour route
Caregivers, cooks and housekeepers need a clean break room as much as residents need a clean lounge. Crews wipe break-room tables, sinks, microwaves and refrigerator handles, empty trash and recycling, and clean and restock staff restrooms. Restocking can draw on our janitorial supplies or on the community’s own storeroom.
Administration offices, the sales office where tours begin and the conference room get desks, phones and door hardware wiped and carpet vacuumed, with files and paperwork left exactly where they were. Background-checked cleaners handle every visit.
Floor care on a quiet schedule
Corridor and lounge carpet gets extraction and spot treatment, and vinyl and tile floors get scrubbing, burnishing or a full strip and recoat through our commercial floor care. Larger floor jobs move wing by wing at hours the administrator picks, so most of the building stays open while one section dries.
Supervisors run quality inspections after floor jobs and during the regular schedule, and the community receives a certificate of insurance before any work begins. To plan your schedule, tell us about your common areas and daily routine through our quote request form.
A few useful answers
Common questions
How are cleaning times fitted around meals and activities?
Your administrator sets them. Dining rooms are cleaned between meals, lobbies and corridors between programs, and offices and staff rooms after the business staff go home.
Can residents still use a hallway while it is being mopped?
Yes. Only half the corridor is wet at any moment, a cone or sign marks it, and the dry half stays clear for walkers and wheelchairs.
How will our administrator know the cleaning is up to standard?
Your administrator receives the results of our supervisors’ quality inspections. Each cleaner assigned to the building has also been background-checked.
Can the lobby and dining room get extra attention before an open house?
Yes. Add a one-time visit before a tour day, holiday party or family event, and the regular schedule carries on unchanged afterward.
